Grouping drawing objects with graphs

I'm new to Igor and am having trouble grouping a drawing object created in the Layout mode to an underlying appended graph. Is this possible? Nothing turns up Help and the Index for the use guide has nothing on this form of 'Group.' Please help me not hate Igor!
You either love it or hate it :)

You can't group draw objects with graphs in a layout.

But what are you trying to do? Maybe there's a different way to achieve what you want. For instance, maybe you would be better off putting the drawing objects in the graph window instead of in the the layout window.
