Removing Igor Pro 6.0.x

Hej,

Igor Pro 6.1 is out and it is recommended to remove version 6.0.x before installing the new version. Unfortunately I do not find any uninstall option in the windows software dialog window and nothing in the Igor Pro Folder. I'm afraid that during one of the last minor updates the uninstall option have been removed automatically.

How can I remove Igor Pro in a clean way from my windows system before installing the new version?

This is somewhat addressed by the commentary in the uninstallAll3x4x5x6xIgorKeys.txt file in your Igor Pro Folder's Miscellaneous subfolder:

To solve some problems with uninstalling Igor 3, 4, 5 or 6
(which may prevent you from installing Igor 6 correctly) you
remove all traces of Igor from your computer by following
these instructions.

Uninstall Igor by either:
a) Selecting Remove Igor Pro from the Igor Pro program group

b) or Open the Add/Remove Programs control panel, select Igor Pro
from the list, and click the Add/Remove button.

This may leave traces of the Igor installation in the Windows
registry. You can remove these registry entries by right-clicking
uninstallAll3x4x5x6xIgorKeys.reg, and choosing Merge from the
resulting popup menu.

You can then remove Igor's installation directory, typically
C:\Program Files\WaveMetrics\Igor Pro Folder.

Now Igor is completely removed from your computer. This is
a good way to prepare for a "clean installation" of the Igor
that is included on this CD-ROM.


In your case, remove the Igor Pro Folder manually and then merge the uninstallAll3x4x5x6xIgorKeys.reg.

Obviously, you'd need to keep that file around (on your desktop, perhaps) BEFORE deleting your Igor Pro Folder.

To update this...

I simply re-installed Igor 6.05 over the existing install. The missing uninstall link and the unvise.exe was back. Then I was able to uninstall in a clean way and installed the new 6.1...
