smoothing of font and superscript in numerical labels

I have two questions:

1. I have a 3D scatter plot with a surface where I managed to smooth the axis and path objects, but how do I smooth the font, that is the numerical labels and the axis labels? See test3.

2. I also have a surface 3D plot, where I would like power of ten annotation in the numerical labels for concentration. That is, I want to write 10 and then -1 in superscipt for the first label. I now used a textwave for the numerical labels and a wave defining the distance between the ticks. However, I don't know how to get the superscript. See test4.

Hope someone can help me with this,

All the best,

Ann-Sofi

Hello Ann-Sofi,

There are limits to what you can do in smoothing characters in numerical labels. Some of this depends on the format of your output. If you use the EPS option you might be happier with the results. In general, Gizmo produces bitmap images so the resolution depends on the display device. If you are exporting the image you should first try increasing the resolution factor by executing, for example:

ModifyGizmo outputResFactor=2

Gizmo's built-in annotations are limited but you can use standard IGOR annotations. If you are using a recent version of Gizmo choose Gizmo Menu->Append Annotation..., then double click on the "Annotation Text Here" in the Preview panel and use the Gizmo Annotation panel to determine where and how the annotation is displayed.

I hope this helps,

I have a similar problem in that I'm trying to label an axis "Concentration (cm\S-3\M)" to give concentration /cubic centimetre, but the superscript doesn't work. I've made the axis label using Gizmo info window/ double click on box axes/ Axis labels tab, then type in the "Text:" box at the bottom.
Any ideas?

This type of label does not support superscripts/subscripts. As I mentioned above, you should use Gizmo Menu->Append Annotation..., then double click on the "Annotation Text Here", edit the annotation and then use the Gizmo Annotation panel to determine where and how the annotation is displayed.

Thanks for the reply. I had read that and tried (admittedly briefly) to label the axis suitably but it always looked amateurish. I'll have another go to see if I can get satisfactory results.
