Why Igor?

Dear Forum,

I have been a happy Igor user. I started very slowly, and after many years just using the GUI for all operations doing force spectroscopy analysis, I ventured timidly into programming and currently programming is mostly what I do with Igor. Even if there is quite a big road still ahead of me with respect to programming, so far I am happily walking it - and for which I have to thank this dynamic forum for all the great help!

This reflection brings me to a possibly silly or unnecessary question, but to my mind, somewhat curious and important one:

Why is Igor called Igor?

If you know the story behind the naming, please drop a line!!

Cheers,

R.

Cheers TB! This is nice! It led me to another interesting question posted on that thread:
what is the correct sound: EE-gor or EYE-gor? - it seems it is EE-gor

We pronounce it EE-gor but if you're a customer you're allowed to pronounce it however you'd like :)
