Saving a graph copy of a layout

For graphs, I can select file -> save graph copy, and will be able to get a .pxp experiment with the graph and the relevant waves. This seems to to be possible when it comes to Layout. Is that true? And if so, why?
I meant to say "This seems to be NOT possible...". It is too late to edit that original post.
