2D image in 3D plot

I would like to add a 2D image plot to a 3D Gizmo; basically I want a 3D plot with an image "slice" through it. I tried to incorporate a bottom image but struggled to get the dimensions correct, and I would ideally like to have the image placed at any location (not just the bottom). Any suggestions?

The Igor 6.20 beta has a very easy way to do that.

Choose "Append Image" from the Gizmo menu.

Doing this in any earlier version of Igor is not nearly as convenient.
