Logarithmic Color Scale

Hi all,

I have a 2D wave with dimensions 50x50, and I want to logarithmically plot the z axis color scale.

When I plot the 2D wave as an image and go to >> Modify Image Appearance >> Log Colors, the entire image turns black which is what I assume is the "last color" is.  What is the function of the before and after last color meant for?

I'm using the red white and blue palette.  The Color Table Range I'm using is from 0 to 0.001.

Is there a different, more manual method for plotting a 3D wave with the Z axis being the color scale?

I think the problem is the zero value and using a log scale. Set the minimum value as something small but >0

In answer to your other question about before and last. This is so that you can set the range that you want to do the colorscale for (let's say your data is 1-100) 20-80 and then set values 1-19 as another color, and 81-100 as another, or make them transparent or just use the end of the colorscale. Hope that helps.
