New WaveMetrics Documentation Website
We have finally caught up with the 2000's and documentation for most of Igor Pro is now available online in HTML form. 🎉
Visit https://docs.wavemetrics.com/ to view the documentation.
Everything that ships in the "Igor Help Files" directory should be available. That doesn't include documentation of XOPs that ship with Igor, packages that have help files, technical notes, and some miscellaneous help files. We may consider adding those in the future.
The HTML documentation is automatically generated whenever the underlying sources change, so it should always match the documentation available in the latest nightly build of the shipping version (currently Igor Pro 10).
Our motivations for creating the HTML documentation were:
- Improve web search results
- Provide a format that AI crawlers can ingest to hopefully provide better answers to Igor Pro-related questions
- Make it easier to read Igor documentation on mobile devices
- Make it possible for us (and our users) to link to specific help topics when discussing Igor Pro on the web
We are not web developers and don't want to become web developers. Our hope is that the documentation looks reasonably good on most browsers and device types, but we haven't tested many of the possible combinations. If you're trying to read the documentation on your smart watch, you might not have the best experience! If you run into serious problems or find obvious conversion mistakes, please let us know.
We'd also like to know if you find this useful in what we might consider an "unexpected" way, or if you have suggestions for ways to improve the HTML documentation.
It's easiest for us if you report errors or suggestions to support@wavemetrics.com but we'll probably see your comment if you post on the forums.
