This image shows the results of a plane wave simulation for a 2D rectangular lattice photonic crystal embedded in a planar waveguide. The volume graphs show the dispersion bands while the contour show the isofrequency curves in k-space for the rectangular lattice.
This image show experimental results of the Super-refraction effect for a 2D rectangular lattice photonic crystal, the theory is extracted from Plane wave simulation mentioned previously. An image line profile is used to find crossing points with the isofrequency curves and plot the normal to these curves, resulting in the direction of propagation of light in the structure.
