particle analysis
hi all
a question mostly for our beloved wavemetrics staff. i have been using the imageanalyzeparticles command to count particles and get average area, etc. what algorithm is used and what is the proper citation for it?

Hi Nick,
I designed the algorithm around 1993 as a proof of concept for a consulting research proposal. Originally the code ran on my SPARCclassic. In 1994 I brought the code with me to WaveMetrics and integrated it into Igor sometime around IP3. Over the years we made some very small enhancements to the ImageAnalyzeParticles operation but we have not touched the algorithm.
Since I never published the algorithm you can cite it in reference to the version of Igor that you are using.
