I am not sure but would a mcp server allow seamless connection to AI agent for code debugging in Igor pro? And is it a function expected in the future?
It's something we're working on internally, currently in an experimental phase. If we have something to announce we'll mention something here on the forums.
If you have any specific use cases in mind for a MCP server we'd be glad to hear about them. You're welcome to email our support email address directly if anything is confidential.
Thanks for the information. It's not intended for a specific scientific project for now. It's mainly for coding inside the igor pro environment by aid of AI agents.
Our model for this tool right now is for users to have an external application host the AI chat (e.g. VS Code, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.). You would then register Igor's MCP server there, and then the agent can use it. In our testing it seems very capable, depending on what AI model you're using of course. As time goes on, these agents are getting much better at writing correct Igor code than they were even a year ago.
