This forum topic is for discussion of IGOR64 - the 64-bit Windows version of Igor Pro.

IGOR64 is of interest only if you need to load gigabytes of data into Igor at one time.

IGOR64 does not run on Macintosh.

IGOR64 will not run faster than IGOR32 - even on a 64-bit OS.

To run IGOR64, you need an Igor Pro 6.x license.

If you are interested in IGOR64, please read the "Read Me (64-bit)" help file that is installed in the IGOR Pro folder with IGOR64. Or you can read the same material online here which also includes a link to the IGOR64 installer. This help file (or the corresponding web page) will fill you in on the background information you need to know when and how to use IGOR64.
Something I need (would like) that is missing:
I have found it useful to create Intra-experiment movies of a sequence of CCD images by just changing the layer of a 2D image of a 3D data set. I have a routine that sets up the loop to change the layers one after another. Instead of moving the cursor down to the abort button, I use the the extension function MouseState("") to look for another pressing of the mouse button to interrupt the loop. This extension routine is located in C:\Program Files\WaveMetrics\Igor Pro Folder\More Extensions\Utilities\GetInputState.xop for the 32bit install, but there is no such 64bit equivalent. One of the reasons I am glad to see the 64bit Igor is that my CCD image sets have been getting longer and higher resolution (more pixels per frame).

I would love to have the GetInputState.xop ported to the 64bit install.

I suggest just setting up a named window hook and turn looping off on a mouse click. Or an external panel with a start/stop button.

Kudos all around. I've been eagerly awaiting Igor64, and I was thrilled to hear about it from Adam at the APS March Meeting in Portland.

He reads this list, so he's probably seeing your messages already, but you can go into more detail in private with him about your specific business situation, the practical realities of whether you can or can't move to Cocoa, your customer base, competitive situation, etc.


Maybe it is too late or otherwise not worth the effort to follow up on this versus development of a Cocoa port of Igor Pro. Thought it was at least worth noting.
