General comments for an experiment

Hi,

It would be really nice if there is somehow a possibility of adding a comment or description to an experiment. For me, this would be three or four lines of what is this all about. Currently, I see no way of doing this and I need to write this in a separate .txt file.

Regards,
Ali
Create a new notebook called something specific … "About Me" or "Experiment Info" or ... Write your description there.

If you want something that can be seen at the desktop or finder level, then I think you are asking for the comments or notes section when you do an About this File at that level. On the Mac, this is at the Get Information command when you select a file.

Get information command? which one is that?

And, are you suggesting using a notebook for comments, I think this is beyond the point, I want the comment to be seasily reach, just a simple text box for example, nothing fancy.

Get Information is at the Finder level on the Mac, it is NOT an Igor Pro command!

WHERE do you want the comment to be easily reached? If you want the comment inside the experiment, than do this at the command line …

string aboutme="This experiment does something wonderful. I am so happy that I can put a comment this way!"
print aboutme

If outside the experiment (at the finder or desktop level), then you should use the finder or desktop tools to attach the comment directly to the experiment file rather than making a separate text file.
